The ups and downs of Google Trends:

1 07 2008

I was looking at Google Trends this morning (you can see my previous post about this neat site, here) and was surprised to see the College of Saint Teresa hitting number five in its daily rankings.

So why the sudden spike in interest in this women’s prep school that had its heyday between 1909 and 1962?

It so happens that this was the one across clue in today’s New York Times crossword puzzle: Kansas City university formerly known as College of Saint Teresa.

It seems a lot of people are doing the New York Time’s puzzle (one of my favorite pastimes), and quite a few are also using Google to solve it (or at least get some of the trickier answers early), but these puzzlers are also having an effect on Google’s trends and word search rankings!

In case anyone’s still stuck, AVILA is the answer to this clue.
